Job summary

GTN Technical Staffing is hiring a Storage Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize 200PB+ of storage infrastructure for HPC and research workloads. You will work with researchers, software engineers, and infrastructure teams to improve performance, reliability, and capacity in a large-scale compute environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on scale-out storage, distributed filesystems, automation with Python/DevOps, and collaboration with vendors such as Dell, VAST Data, HPE, and Rubrik.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience deploying and managing high-performance or clustered filesystems at scale.
• Experience with scale-out storage such as VAST Data, Dell PowerScale/Isilon, or comparable platforms.
• Strong knowledge of file, block, and object storage and modern data center architectures.
• Experience troubleshooting storage performance, availability, and capacity issues.
• Python and/or DevOps experience supporting infrastructure automation.
• Experience operating business-critical infrastructure in high-availability environments.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and scale multi-petabyte storage infrastructure.
• Engineer and support distributed and clustered filesystems in highly available environments.
• Investigate throughput, latency, capacity, and I/O bottlenecks affecting compute and research workflows.
• Automate storage provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance using Python and DevOps practices.
• Build repeatable deployment and operational workflows aligned with Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
• Partner with network, compute, software, and research teams to improve end-to-end performance.
• Coordinate with vendors on technical issues and infrastructure improvements.
• Maintain documentation and track operational work through tools such as Jira.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with hands‑on experience in scale-out storage, clustered filesystems, performance troubleshooting, and infrastructure automation. Experience with Dell PowerScale/Isilon, VAST Data, or comparable distributed storage platforms is especially relevant.
