Job summary

Total Wine & More is seeking a Merchandiser to join our store team in Short Pump, VA. You will maximize inventory, handle freight, set displays, and support online orders including curbside pickup and delivery if assigned.

You will greet customers, share product knowledge, and participate in wine, spirits, and beer training. This role requires a high school diploma, 1–3 years retail experience, and familiarity with POS and inventory software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience, 1+ years in a retail setting preferred.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maximize product inventory, including processing freight, stocking merchandise, building displays and end caps, placing signage, and supporting digital orders and pickup/delivery services.
• Greet customers and provide a personalized shopping experience; inform about products and services.
• Participate in wine, spirits, and beer training to build product knowledge.
• Maintain knowledge of advertisements, promotions, and loyalty programs.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards and ensure compliance with alcohol sale laws.
• Complete cross-functional responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
• Load and deliver orders safely, following policies, if delivery is an essential function.

About the role

All Store Team Members play an essential role in building our company brand by delivering excellent customer service. You will maximize product inventory and support online business operations, ensuring a positive shopping experience. While both part-time and full-time positions generally focus on merchandising responsibilities, you may also be assigned sales, front end or other responsibilities as needed. Internally, you will be referred to as Merchandiser and report to the store management team.

You will

• Maximize product inventory, including processing freight, organizing and distributing inventory, pulling and stocking merchandise, building displays and end caps, placing signage, and supporting digital business operations by fulfilling orders and assisting with in-store and curbside pick-up and delivery services, including driving and making deliveries if assigned
• Deliver exceptional service and a personalized experience by greeting customers, engaging to build relationships, and informing about products and services
• Participate in wine, spirits, and beer training to build product knowledge
• Maintain knowledge of advertisements, promotions, and loyalty programs
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the store
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
• Complete cross-functional responsibilities and other duties as assigned
• Load and deliver orders in a safe and professional manner, following company policies and procedures and abiding by all traffic and safety laws - if delivery is added as an essential job function

If this job posting is coded as a seasonal role above, you can expect this position to be short term, no longer than six months, and you will have the option to apply for a non-seasonal role

You will come with

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical requirements (with or without accommodations)

• Walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 8-10 hours a day
• Ability to safely lift, load, and handle cases and pallets
• Climb ladders and lift 50 lbs. overhead and repeatedly
• May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday
