Job summary

Wegmans in New York is seeking a friendly restaurant foods team member to educate shoppers about ingredients and help assemble high-quality meals. You’ll work as part of a team to prepare, package and serve a variety of hot and cold items in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities include building relationships with customers, following proper food preparation, storage and merchandising procedures, and delivering outstanding service. Prior food service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or retail is preferred.
• Food handling and safety awareness in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly.

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, grasping, repetitive and sustained hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely. Upper extremity repetition is moderate to moderately high and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures and hot equipment (exceeds 135 degrees).
