Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc in Alabama seeks a Stocker to keep store shelves full and organized, unload trucks, rotate products, and assist customers throughout the day. This hourly position directly impacts the shopping experience customers rely on.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and help them find what they need throughout the store.
• Assist customers with locating products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and relaying feedback to the team.
• Unload trucks, stock shelves, rotate product for freshness, and manage overstock and shortages.
• Monitor mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly.
• Organize stock for greatest efficiency and restock damaged items.
• Operate the register for customer purchases as needed.
• Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies.
• Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts.

What You'll Do

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
• Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness
• Monitorfor mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly
• Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items
• Tag shelves with overstock in the backroom and understock drawers
• Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input
• Operate the register for customer purchasesas needed
• Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies
• Assistwith outside maintenanceincluding shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts
• Helpwith cleaning throughout thestoreincluding registers…????restrooms? breakrt ???keep it close.

Your Skills

Reporting Relationships

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, and Service Managers

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
• Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens in pharmacy roles involving dispensing medications or administering immunizations
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed throughout the store. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $11.41 to $14.00 depending on experience.
