GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This is skilled work in the operation of a stock room and maintaining of records, inventory, tools and equipment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the supervision of superintendent or their designee.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following:
- Maintain records of all tools and equipment, and where and by whom used.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Store, move, and issue materials and equipment.
- Identify and report damages or missing inventory to immediate supervisor.
- Fill requisitions ensuring that materials, equipment and supplies are properly issued.
- Store equipment and materials in designated locations within the supply cages, insuring items are easily accessible and properly labeled
- Keep storage area in good order.
- Maintain material and safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS) for all hazardous materials
- Prepare and maintain lists of vendors of specific commodities.
- Obtain price quotes on items for approval and ordering.
- Meet with sales representative to evaluate products and services.
- Keep records of purchases, receipts, requisitions, receivers, invoices, ledgers and other forms.
- Set up and maintain perpetual inventory records, and classify various materials, supplies and equipment.
- Perform related work as assigned.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Sufficient strength to do moderate lifting and carrying.
- Ability to maintain stock and material levels.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures as applied to perpetual inventory systems.
- Ability to make or verify a variety of arithmetic computations quickly and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees.
- Ability to prepare statistical data and reports.
Requirements
- High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent.
o Diploma or official, sealed transcripts REQUIRED with application
- Knowledge of water and sewer parts.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in warehousing, supply chain operations or inventory control.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, endure prolonged standing, ability to bend, walk and lift as required by this role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Michigan.
- Driving record must meet city standards for insurability.
Pay rate: $24.08/hour - $34.78/hour (After 5 years)
