Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools invites eligible high school students enrolled in Teaching Methods to join a structured internship at P-Tech High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The Student Teaching Intern will gain hands-on experience in classroom instruction, student engagement, and educational practices under supervision, supporting teachers and learners throughout the semester.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Teaching Methods or related education course.
• Good academic standing and consistent school attendance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in teaching, education, or working with students.
• Ability to follow directions and maintain professionalism in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation.
• Support small group instruction and individual student learning as directed.
• Observe and reflect on instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
• Help prepare instructional materials, resources, and classroom displays.
• Provide peer support to students during class activities.
• Participate in feedback sessions with the supervising teacher and/or course instructor.
• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality at all times.
• Complete any required reflections, logs, or assignments connected to the Teaching Methods course.
