You’ll assist in maintaining the highest standards of food storage and safety, recycling processes, and most important, you’ll keep every utensil, every glass, every dish—absolutely sparkling.(Inside Tip: It may seem obvious, but don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.)MAIN DUTIES:As Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties according to hotel standards of procedure.GENERAL DUTIES:Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and wash dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookwareSanitize all kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and food preparation areas according to health department standardsClean and maintain dishwashing machines, ensuring proper chemical levels and temperaturesAssist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetablesStock and organize kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipmentTransport food items and supplies between storage areas, prep areas, and cooking stationsEmpty trash receptacles and maintain waste disposal areasClean kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, and refrigeration unitsSweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors throughout shiftsMaintain cleanliness of storage areas, walk-in coolers, and freezersReport equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisorsReceive and properly store food deliveries according to food safety protocolsRotate stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) principlesMonitor inventory levels and notify management of supply needsEnsure proper labeling and dating of stored food itemsFollow all food safety regulations and hotel health policiesWear appropriate personal protective equipmentMaintain personal hygiene standards required for food serviceComplete required food safety training and certificationsSupport other kitchen staff during peak service timesMaintain kitchen organization and cleanliness between meal periodsEmbody the 1 Hotels Vision, Mission, and Compass; deliver on Our Promise, provide Good-Natured Service, and uphold our Brand Pillars.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Are organized and proficient at multitasking.Are a reliable team player willing to learn and adapt to new situationsAbility to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently and 25 pounds constantly.Proficient in verbal and written English communicationAble to stand for long periods of timeDue to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotelThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
