Job description

The Steward helps clean the back of the kitchen areas and provides a service for ware washing.

Duties:

1. Maintains procedures and controls for the kitchens, including safeguards against damage, pilferage, breakage and spoilage.
2. Maintains consistency, fairness and respect within the framework of established Peppermill guidelines.
3. Maintains the highest levels of professionalism, including the proper dress code (aprons, gloves (when necessary), nametags, etc.).
4. Ensures that all safety standards are followed and reports all unsafe conditions to upper management.
5. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective actions can be taken when appropriate.
6. Rewards and recognizes outstanding employees when it is deserved.
7. Maintains a “hands on” philosophy and jumps in with fellow ware washers whenever needed.
8. Assists Executive Steward and outlet chefs to cover absences, LOA, vacations, etc. in various restaurants and dish rooms to maximize productivity and minimize labor costs.
9. Works in conjunction with the Banquet Department in loading, transporting and helping dish-up on all major banquet functions.
10. Works with outlet chefs to ensure a minimum 90% rating by the Washoe County Health Department in all food outlets and bars.
11. Maintains kitchen and dish room areas to ensure adequate productivity of the kitchen and service personnel needs.

Qualifications:

1. Must be able to follow directions and respond with a sense of urgency.
2. Must be able to work unsupervised.
3. Must be able to work any shift, when needed.
4. Must be able to comprehend Basic English.
