Job summary

Watco, a leading operator of short line railroads, shipping terminals and logistics hubs in Texas, seeks a Stevedore/Laborer in Houston. You will support terminal, vessel, and warehouse operations, loading and unloading materials, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour, with 12-hour shifts and a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends. Must be 18+, HS or GED, and able to obtain required certifications in a safety-conscious role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass and/or obtain required reporting, testing, and certifications for this position and location.
• Read, write, and communicate in English with good judgment.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule including day and night shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily terminal, vessel, and warehouse operations.
• Communicates with superintendents, foremen, and management to determine staffing needs and prioritize workflow.
• Operate and maintain equipment for safe transfer of materials between silos, railcars, barges, and vessels.
• Supports communication between drivers, warehouse teams, and management using radio and digital systems.
• Adheres to SOPs, PPE policies, and all safety and environmental regulations.
• Performs maintenance, inspections, and additional operational duties as assigned to support terminal and vessel efficiency.

Job Summary

Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour

Schedule: 12 hour shifts with no set schedule - including day or night shifts and weekend shifts as needed

Location: 14035 Industrial Rd., Houston, TX 77015

A Stevedore / Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual and equipment-assisted tasks to support terminal, vessel, and warehouse operations. Including but not limited to, loading, unloading, material handling, and basic maintenance. Ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and safety standards.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location.
