Job summary

Renovo Solutions in Houston is seeking a Medical Sterilizer Specialist to perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and calibrations on sterilization devices across patient-care facilities. This field service position primarily serves various hospitals in a geographical area.

Steris experience and platform certifications are required. This role requires strong troubleshooting, communication with clinical staff, and the ability to travel between facilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair sterile processing related equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
• Repairs can include steam sterilizers, steam generators, cart washers, cart decontamination systems and ultrasonic cleaning systems.
• Achieve KPI targets while maintaining departmental standards and goals.
• Support BMET teammates and the Supervisor/Manager on-site, as needed.
• Perform inspections, calibrations, performance assurance, and electrical safety on sterilization equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records in CMMS - RenovoLive.
• Travel between Memorial Hermann facilities in the greater Houston, TX area for field service.
• Follow safety procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.

Summary:

This is a highly technical position that will perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and calibrations across a variety of medical sterilizer devices to ensure mechanical and electrical safety and functionality. This is a field service position primarily serving various customer hospitals in a geographical area. Steris experience and platform certifications are required.

What you will do:

Service & Maintenance

• Troubleshoot and repair sterile processing related equipment in compliance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards
• Repairs can include the following: steam sterilizers, steam generators, cart washers, cart decontamination systems and ultrasonic cleaning systems
• Achieve KPI targets while maintaining departmental standards and goals
• Support BMET teammates and the Supervisor/Manager on-site, as needed
• Perform inspections, calibrations, performance assurance, and electrical safety on sterilization equipment
• Work with site facilities staff to resolve supply/house steam issues and know when/how to elevate technical contraindications between HTM and facilities
• Maintain accurate service records in our CMMS - RenovoLive
• Participate in special projects as assigned

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies (TJC, DNV, DOH, CAP) and internal Medical Equipment Management Plans (MEMP)
• Follow safety procedures related to bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and device safety per OSHA and facility policy
• Adhere to ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 13485 QMS policies, procedures, and documentation standards

Customer Support

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical and facility staff
• Communicate equipment status and service timelines clearly to customers and supervisors
• Demonstrate a customer-first approach by actively listening to feedback and prioritizing service requests

Asset Tracking

• Support inventory control by performing audits and verifying the status of assigned and incoming equipment
• Recommend updates to inventory records and performance assurance schedule

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with clinical biomedical equipment (specifically sterilization devices) in a hospital or clinical setting
• Technical degree or equivalent preferred
• Proficient with electromechanical and computerized biomedical devices
• Basic knowledge of sterilization plumbing,
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable interpreting error codes and using diagnostic software
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication

Safety Requirements:

• Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the biomed area in accordance with the facility's policies
• Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices
• Ontime completion of safety and training assignments
• Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot & cold ranges of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish colors
• Must be able be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely

Travel Requirements:

Field service position - meaning that candidate will be required to travel between Memorial Hermann facilities in the greater Houston, TX area. Air travel may be required occasionally to support non-Memorial Hermann customers for technical support or special projects on request considering availability.

• Must abide by the safety rules of the host site
