Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Sterilizing Tech I to join our patient‑focused team, handling cleaning, sterilizing, and distribution of instruments in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

You will perform quality assurance, manage stock levels, and ensure safe handling of biohazards under NM policies. This role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and teamwork within the surgical services environment.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: CSPDT certification and two+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, disinfects, decontaminates, and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods, substances and equipment.
• Receives, stocks, packages, and distributes medical instruments and equipment.
• Performs and documents required quality assurance testing and inspection on stock. Inventories and reorders supplies.
• Properly disposes of biohazardous substances, chemicals, medical waste, and unusable equipment and supplies.

Job Description

Scheduling need: 3pm-11:30pm M-F, on-call and holiday commitments.

TheSterilizing Tech Ireflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Receives, cleans, distributes, and stores medical instruments and equipment.
