Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all accountabilities of the Central Sterile Supply area.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Monitors all sterilizers in Central Sterile Supply and provides appropriate documentation in an accurate manner.
  • Identifies, checks and counts all basic instruments set in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Meets production standards in kit and basic case cart production in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Train staff on adherence to Safety Standards, Blood and Bodily Fluid Precautions and Hand Washing.
  • Works effectively as a team member within department to provide quality service to hospital units through communication, cooperation, and collaboration in order to respond to problems that arise.
  • Independently acts as a resource for the Central Sterile Supply floor and provides supervisory responsibilities when required to ensure the smooth work flow of the department.
  • Adhere to enhanced infection control protocols and PPE requirements
  • Process dental instruments and patient care items through the sterilization process safely and efficiently
  • Maintain sterilization equipment, following manufacture maintenance guidelines and intervals
  • Turn over operatories, transporting dirty instruments to the sterilization area for processing
  • Decontaminates, washes, inspects and packages dental tools
  • Tests sterilization effectiveness using mechanical, chemical and biological indicators and maintains detailed logs
  • Restocks sterile supplies, tracks inventory, performs routine maintenance of equipment
  • Set up treatment rooms for the next patient procedure
  • Assist with ordering of clinical supplies
  • Expose digital images (as allowed by state guidelines and certificates).
  • Prepare hygiene rooms including, but not limited to, set-up, decontamination, sterilization of all instruments, cleaning handpieces, and restocking supplies
  • Check inventory weekly and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Perform daily biological spore testing.
  • Help dental assistants, doctors, and front desk staff, when necessary

Position Summary

Performs a variety of processing duties including: decontamination, sterilization, supply, case cart assembly and packaging. Fulfills all requirements for documentation to ensure the department is able to distribute high quality sterile products in an efficient manner to effectively meet the requirement of the Center. Maintains a thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing. Works in collaboration with Medical and Dental departments to provide patient required instrumentation.
