Job summary

MU Health Care in Jefferson City, MO seeks a meticulous Sterile Processing Technician for on-site work at Capital Region Medical Center. Shift is Mon–Fri, 11am–7:30p with orientation first 6 weeks on days; base pay includes PRN rate with a $2 per hour evening shift differential.

You will disassemble, clean, assemble, test, decontaminate, package and track instruments ensuring sterile supply for procedures. Quality, safety, and infection control are paramount in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: additional license/certification as determined by hiring department.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, and test instrumentation for proper functioning.
  • Perform decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of materials to ensure sterility.
  • Prepare trays and carts; wrap/package items for designated areas; operate instrument tracking systems.
  • Select appropriate sterilization materials and equipment for processes.
  • Assist in inventory maintenance and documentation of usage, issuing, and receiving.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, and test instrumentation for proper functioning.
  • Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of medical/surgical materials including instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials.
  • Prepare trays and specialty carts for designated areas according to prescribed procedures. Wrap and/or package items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for those designated areas. Operate instrument tracking systems.
  • Use knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate material for sterilization processes.
  • Assist in the maintenance of supply and materials inventory to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving, and recording as assigned.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
