Job summary

ChristianaCare invites you to join a paid Sterile Processing Training Program at Newark/Wilmington campuses. You will complete 400 clinical hours while earning provisional CRCST certification and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced health system.

Starting at $17.67 per hour with full-time benefits, you will transition to Sterile Processing Technician I after completion. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 12:00 PM–8:30 PM; rotations may occur on weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program.
• Provisional CRCST certification required.
• Seeking completion of 400 clinical hours to obtain full CRCST.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Interest in Sterile Processing and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Complete classwork and assignments with active participation.
• Finish learning modules and maintain attendance requirements.
• Participate in precepted learning across Sterile Processing.
• Demonstrate aseptic technique and sterilization principles.
• Perform instrument decontamination procedures per standards.
• Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment safely.
• Identify surgical instruments and maintain them properly.
• Assemble instrument trays per configuration and counts.
• Use biological indicators and maintain QC standards.
• Wrap and label items for steam, Sterrad, and gas sterilization.
• Assemble surgical case carts using picklists.
• Document activities in the instrument tracking system.

Program Details

Program Start Date: Monday, November 9, 2026

Training Location: Newark Campus, with travel to the Wilmington Campus as needed

Training Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or
• 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Work Location Upon Completion:

• Newark or Wilmington Campus

Compensation & Benefits

The starting rate for this training program is $17.67 per hour, with full‑time benefits effective on your first day of employment. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will transition into a Sterile Processing Technician I role and receive a salary increase.

Schedule Expectations Upon Program Completion

Successful participants must be flexible to work available shifts based on operational and staffing needs, including:

• Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Evening Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

• Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Positions may require rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be assigned to either the Newark or Wilmington campus based on departmental needs.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

• Successful completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program required.

• Provisional CRCST certification required.

• Must be seeking completion of the required 400 clinical hours needed to obtain full CRCST certification.

• Demonstrated interest in Sterile Processing and commitment to quality, safety, and infection prevention practices.

• Basic knowledge of sterile processing principles, medical instrumentation, and healthcare infection prevention standards
