Job summary

St. Louis Children’s Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks a Sterile Processing team member to support decontamination, sterilization, and distribution services.

This full-time role trains staff, troubleshoots equipment, and coordinates between surgical services and central sterile processing to ensure efficient operations. Eligible candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED and certification/licensure in the relevant area, with less than two years of prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certification/licensure in area of expertise is required.
• Experience of less than 2 years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
• Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
• Serves as the primary coordinator between surgical services and central supply sterile processing department in assigned clinical service area.
• Provides training and guidance to staff.

Role Purpose

Assists the supervisor in providing quality, cost-effective decontamination, sterilization, and distribution services. Trains and directs CSPD staff, problem solves equipment failures and functions as a charge person in the absence of the Supervisor.
