Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to inspect, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrument sets for Suburban Hospital. The role operates cleaning and sterilization equipment and prepares supplies for steam and low-temperature sterilization.

Location is Suburban Hospital with a Monday–Friday shift from 12pm to 8pm. Minimum 3 years of SPD experience and valid certifications are required, with opportunities to work within Johns Hopkins Health System.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing: CBSPD, HSPA, IAHCSMM, CRCST or CBSPD preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience.
• Experience with instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates instruments and equipment per department procedures.
• Performs prep functions: instrument set assembly, wrapping, labeling, identification.
• Operates sterilizers and related equipment; ensures proper loading and operation.
• Prepares case carts and delivers them for case setup in a timely manner.
• Stores sterile supplies and equipment in correct locations after processing.
• Maintains biological test logs and related sterilization records.
• Knows load recall procedures in case of positive biological tests.
• Responds promptly to customer requests and supports SPD operations.
