Job summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital Association in Knoxville seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to support instrument care, decontamination, assembly and sterilization for the surgical suite. You will follow aseptic techniques, document loads, and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, certification within 2 years (CSPT, CST, or CRCST) and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing (CSPT), CST, or CRCST within 2 years.
• BLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years sterile processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with checking sterile surgical supply, OR stocking, inventory and routine supply orders.
• Care and handling of all surgical instruments; decontamination, assembly and sterilization.
• Maintain aseptic technique and comply with manufacturer recommendations.
• Perform biology monitoring and document all loads sterilized.
• Wrap instrument trays and inspect instruments for repairs; report needs.
• Record room temperature/humidity and downtime of sterilizers; monitor equipment.
• Stay current on SPD practices and train staff as needed.
• Interact professionally with team members and other care providers.
• Support Endoscopy duties and assist RN during procedures as needed.
