Job summary

Sutter Health’s MMC-Memorial Medical Center is seeking a sterile processing technician to perform instrument processing and decontamination, ensuring safe, clean, well-maintained instruments for patient care. You will work nights, in a full-time role, with duties spanning disinfection, supply handling, and equipment testing in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has at least a GED or HS diploma, a sterile processing certification, and around 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Sterile Processing Certification preferred or required as applicable.
• 1 year of recent relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized instrument processing and decontamination.
• Disinfect and distribute supplies, perform equipment maintenance, testing and setup as needed.
• Follow procedures to ensure privacy and safety and contribute to optimal patient care.

Position Overview

Competently performs standardized instrument processing and decontamination to prevent the spread of infection, illness or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment to support the functionality of the department by disinfecting and distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Integrates education and technical competence to execute safe and precise sterilization procedures. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care.

Education

Job Description:

• HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• OR Sterile Processing Certification

Typical Experience

• 1-year recent relevant experience.

Skills And Knowledge

• General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment.
• Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
• General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Pay Range is $32.68 to $45.74 / hour

The posted pay range is based on the position's primary work location. Candidates who reside and work outside of that location may be subject to a different pay range based on their work location.
