Job summary

Valley Health in Winchester, VA is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization of reusable medical devices. You will maintain inventory, ensure instrument functionality, and support infection control in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma and CRCST certification within 18 months, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work under minimal supervision on second shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CRCST certification within 18 months or 2080 hours of hire date.
• Ability to self-direct and function efficiently under minimal supervision.
• FLSA classification: Non-exempt.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable medical devices.
• Ensure instrumentation is functional and remove defective devices from service.
• Maintain inventory and par levels of supplies and instrumentation.
• Follow disinfection and sterilization methodologies and processes.
• Provide excellent customer service to user departments, vendors and team members.
• Prioritize demand and participate in environmental maintenance to meet regulatory requirements.
• Engage in other tasks as needed to maintain department functionality.

Job Description

Sterile Processing Technicians carry out the task of decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices. Ensures the instrumentation is functional and removes defective devices from service. Maintains sufficient inventory and par levels of supplies and instrumentation. An understanding of disinfection and sterilization methodologies and processes is required. Provide excellent customer service exhibiting interpersonal skills to user departments, vendors, and team members. This position requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to efficiently prioritize demand. Participation in environmental maintenance responsibilities is necessary to meet regulatory requirements. Sterile Processing Technicians are responsible for following infection control recommendations and standards as described through accreditation agencies. Technicians are expected to engage in other task as needed to maintain functionality of the department.
