Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to sterilize and clean medical instruments and supplies for surgeries and procedures. You will disinfect contaminated items, deliver sterile supplies, manage inventory, and process reusable devices while ensuring safety and efficiency in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will work with the Sterile Processing Department to inspect and assemble case carts, maintain sterile areas, and follow quality metrics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing program preferred.
• Certified Central Service Technician (CBSPD or HSPA) certification required.

Tests and reports any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.

Principal Accountabilities

The successful candidate is responsible for: the cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of medical and surgical instruments, case cart assembly and distribution, the care and distribution of patient care equipment, and maintaining the sterile processing areas. Must demonstrate proficiency and teamwork in all areas of the Sterile Processing Department. Follow instructions to ensure quality metrics and standards are met. Able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time, as well as push, pull and lift heavy items. Computer literate. Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include: the use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Completion of a Sterile Processing program preferred

Certified Central Service Technician required (CBSPD or HSPA (IAHCSMM) certification)

Prior Experience Preferred.
