Job summary

Campbell Clinic in Germantown, TN is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing technician to manage sterile instruments and supplies for the operating room. Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of sterile processing experience required; orthopedic surgery experience preferred.
• Certified Sterile Processor Certification required and must be maintained.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile techniques and ensure infection prevention standards.
• Clean, inspect, test, and maintain instruments per sterile principles.
• Troubleshoot equipment and notify appropriate personnel when issues arise.
• Handle hazardous waste per MSDS/OSHA guidelines and document accordingly.
• Monitor supplies and implants to ensure continuous service provision.
• Maintain state and federal sterility paperwork and regulatory documentation.
• Show regular and predictable attendance; work cooperatively with others.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the daily activities and operations of the Sterile Processing Room within the Operating Room to provide sterile instruments and supplies in accordance with professional standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• 1. Possesses knowledge of sterile techniques, instrumentation, identification and use, and understands the importance of infection prevention
• 2. Ensures equipment is cleaned, inspected, tested, and maintained according to principles of sterile technique, thereby consistently maintaining instrumentation and documentation needed for caseload
• 3. Troubleshoots problems related to equipment, supplies and service. Takes appropriate corrective action when break in technique occurs and informs the appropriate personnel
• 4. Exercises caution when using chemicals/cleaning fluids that are toxic or caustic and ensures that solid/infectious waste is collected and delivered to collection area in a timely manner in accordance with MSDS and OSHA regulations
• 5. Monitors operative schedule and communicates with vendors and representatives to ensure required supplies and implants are available for continuity of provisions of services
• 6. Responsible for maintaining State and Federal sterility paperwork and other needed documentation to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• 7. Regular and predictable attendance

• 9. Performs all other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Experience:

1 year of sterile processing experience required.

Orthopaedic surgery experience preferred.

Knowledge of methods and procedures for contamination control.

Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.

Certifications:

Certified Sterile Processor Certification required and must be maintained.

BLS certification required.
