Job summary

OptumCare is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech in Everett, WA to decontaminate and reprocess instrument sets and reusable sterile supplies. The role involves receiving instruments from multiple departments, cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining documentation in accordance with IFU and AAMI standards.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, fluent English, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. A sign-on bonus is offered for external candidates and the role operates Monday–Friday with

Responsibilities

  • Process instrumentation and equipment from various sources in a timely manner.
  • Clean and decontaminate instruments using manual, ultrasonic, and automated processes per IFUs.
  • Perform sterilization and high-level disinfection with steam autoclaves and low-temp methods.
  • Record daily quality checks and document sterilization tasks.
  • Follow AAMI standards and IFU instructions for handling instrumentation.
  • Assist in onboarding new staff and maintaining department operations.

Job Description

Location: Everett, Washington

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 6:30 pm

$2,000 Sign-on Bonus for External Candidates

The Sterile Processing Tech functions as an integral member of the team and is responsible for performing technical tasks that support clinical operations. The focus of this position is the decontamination and reprocessing of instrument sets and reusable sterile supplies.

  • Receives and processes instrumentation, supplies, and equipment from the operating room, departments, clinics, and outside customers in a timely manner
  • Cleaning and decontamination of instruments, scopes, equipment, and disposal of biohazard, utilizing proper PPE; tech will disassemble, inspect, and decontaminate via manual, ultrasonic, and automated process following IFU's
  • Performs sterilization and high-level disinfection of instruments, scopes and equipment via steam autoclaves, low temp and liquid chemical
  • Performs and records required daily quality checks and tests on the sterile processing environment, instrumentation, and equipment
  • Documents sterilization, HLD, and tasks via electronic records, SPM or paper charting
  • Follows standards for handling instrumentation and equipment including AAMI standards and manufacturers instruction for use
  • Maintains assigned work areas and equipment to follow AAMI standards and IFU's
  • Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and total department operation

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing/pulling) transport 24lbs to max of 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, speak and understand fluent English
  • Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sterile processing Certification HSPA
  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment.
