Job summary

The Sterile Instrument Technician at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital and Schoolcraft Surgery Center provides care to patients undergoing procedural intervention in compliance with AORN, The Joint Commission, OSHA, and AAMI standards.

The technician must have knowledge of decontamination, instrumentation, sterilization, and case cart building, and will process sterilized products across the hospital under SPD leadership.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; basic computer literacy.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician preferred within two years of employment.
• 2 years experience in Central Processing or Operating Room preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and process instrument sets; scan into the instrument tracking system.
• Act as liaison between OR suites and SPD; assemble and transport instruments.
• Inspect instruments for damage and determine repair needs.
• Operate sterilization equipment; monitor cycles and record results.
• Assemble case carts per physician/surgeon preference cards and prepare for next day.
