Job summary

VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion will open April 2027 as a four-story ambulatory surgery center with outpatient care. This role supports decontamination, cleaning, and sterile processing, including transport of case carts to OR and Sterile Processing.

You will assemble trays, document activities, and monitor quality and safety using proper PPE and procedures. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year in Sterile Processing; CRCST or CSPDT

Responsibilities

• Transports case carts to OR and Sterile Processing, assembl es trays and peel packs.
• Documents activities and reports variances affecting sterile products or safety.

Located at 10031 Nash Road, VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion will be a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building, bringing comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care closer to residents in one of Virginia’s largest counties. Scheduled to open in April 2027, the state-of-the-art facility will bring together surgical services, diagnostics, infusion therapy, pharmacy services, innovative care models, and more in a single, convenient location for Chesterfield residents.** We are hiring team members now to help build the future of outpatient care from the ground up in one of Virginia’s fastest-growing communities.

Essential Job Statements

Performs decontamination functions including manual cleaning and processing of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment according to manufacturer's instructions for use. Properly operates cleaning and sterilization equipment, such as cart washers, sonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and heat-sealing units. Transports clean and soiled case carts to the operating rooms and Sterile Processing. Transport additional instrumentation as needed between Peri-operative Services and Sterile Processing rooms. Verifies skill in assembly of trays and peel packs, to include internal chemical indicators, lot control numbers, wrapping, labeling and methods of sterilization. Documents all activities as required within the outlined processes and reports variances that may affect the outcome of sterile products or patient care and safety.

Patient Population:

N/A Employment Qualifications Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in Sterile Processing. Preferred Education: Completion of Sterile Processing program (online or in person) Licensing/ Certification Licensure/Certification Required: N/A Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through HSPA or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through CBSPD certification. Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: One year experience in Sterile Processing. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: One will demonstrate proper knowledge and understanding of all chemicals, detergents, and other cleaning and/or disinfecting agents used in the department. Proper PPE usage with the department. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Medical terminology, identify various instrumentation, overall workflow, etc.
