Job summary

UW Medicine – Montlake Central Supplies Processing Department (CSPD) seeks a Hospital Central Services Technician 2 for night shifts in Seattle. You will decontaminate, process, and sterilize intricate surgical instruments and equipment for procedures.

Responsibilities include prioritizing trays, disassembling/reassembling items, testing functionality, and safe biohazard waste disposal. Join a 24/7 team delivering high-quality sterile supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • One to two years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, process, sterilize and assemble complex arrangements of instruments and equipment for surgery.
  • Prioritize instruments and supplies based on scheduled surgeries and ongoing cases.
  • Identify and sort contaminated instruments and equipment for processing.
  • Disassemble and reassemble items with multiple parts as required.
  • Disassemble and decontaminate equipment using approved methods and detergents.
  • Inspect, test and reassemble instruments; label and date packaging for sterilization.
  • Collect and dispose of biohazardous waste from procedures.

Job DescriptionUWMC- Montlake Central Supplies Processing Department (CSPD) has an outstanding opportunity for a Hospital Central Services Technician 2.WORK SCHEDULENightsFull-timeDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONCSPD is instrumental to patient care and provides cleaning, reprocessing & sterilization support services to Surgical Services and UW Medicine customers.We are open 24/7. We collect, reprocess & stock an average of 6,500 surgical trays and some 6,500 items a week. Our team focuses on compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements and quality assurances in order to provide the highest quality surgical Instruments.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDecontaminate, process, sterilize and assemble complex arrangements of specialized and intricate surgical instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical procedures following established guidelinesPrioritize the need for instruments, equipment and supplies based on the scheduled surgical cases, surgeries in process and surgical cases added during the work scheduleIdentify and sort contaminated instruments and equipmentDisassemble and reassemble items with multiple partsRecognize dissembled parts of intricate instruments and equipment; reassemble and/or return to appropriate traysDetermine and use the appropriate decontamination procedureDisassemble and decontaminate equipment and instruments using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps, cleaners and processing methodsCollect and dispose of large volumes of biohazardous waste materials from surgical proceduresInspect, test, reassemble, test for proper functioning, package, label and date instrumentation and equipmentREQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSHigh school graduation or equivalentANDOne to two years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipmentORequivalent education/experience.ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKEUW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
