Job summary

Highland Hospital of Rochester NY is hiring a Sterile Processing Tech 1 for a full-time day shift. Responsibilities include Decontamination, Prep and Pack, case cart picking, instrument sterilization, and timely CSP material supply to the OR.

After orientation, you will work independently to ensure CSP procedures are followed. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Tech 1 will become acquainted with and understand CSP procedures. This includes Decontamination, Prep and Pack, picking of case carts, sterilizing instruments and operating CSP equipment properly and safely. The SPD Tech 1 also will become acquainted with and understand the process of supplying materials to the OR accurately and in a timely manner. Employee will work independently when Orientation has been completed.

Salary Range

$23.55 - $29.31 an hour

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements

Education

High school diploma or GED required. Fulfills the educational requirements for completion of a nationally and NYS accredited Central Service Technician certification program (CRCST or CSPDT); or is otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law (i.e., candidate provides evidence that he/she worked as Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of January 1, 2015); or becomes CRCST or CSPDT certification required within 18 months of hire or transfer into the role.

Experience

Sterile Processing or Materials Processing preferred

License/Certification

CRCST or CSPDT certification required within 18 months of hire or transfer into the role. If someone qualifies under NYS Public Health Law for the length of employment and thus is grandfathered, they do not require the certification.

Skills

Able to understand written and oral direction as well as interpret equipment operation instructions.
