Job summary

Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to ensure instruments and equipment are properly prepared for every procedure.

You will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, store, and distribute surgical instrumentation, including autoclave and GI scope reprocessing, with strict infection prevention and documentation. Join a collaborative OR team and enjoy a supportive work culture.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, or CRCST certification.
  • At least one year of experience in OR or Sterile Processing.
  • BLS certification required or obtained on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments.
  • Store and distribute surgical instrumentation and medical equipment.
  • Perform sterilization processes including autoclave and GI scope reprocessing.
  • Verify quality assurance testing and maintain documentation.
  • Support inventory management and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and surgical technologists to ensure readiness.

Job description

We are seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to play a critical role in supporting safe surgical care by ensuring instruments and equipment are properly prepared and available for every procedure. This position is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instrumentation and medical equipment. The Sterile Processing Technician performs sterilization processes, including autoclave, GI scope reprocessing, and other approved methods; verifies quality assurance testing; maintains accurate documentation; and supports inventory management and process improvement initiatives. This role collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and surgical technologists while maintaining high standards for infection prevention, safety, and patient care. Successful candidates are detail-oriented, organized, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, and committed to ensuring surgical teams have the right instruments ready when patients need them.

SCHEDULE
  • Monday - Friday
  • Five 8-hour shift: 9:00AM-5:30PM
  • NO WEEKENDS. NO ON-CALL. NO HOLIDAYS.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, completion of a Surgical Technologist on-the-job training program, or current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
  • At least one year of experience in an Operating Room, Sterile Processing Department, or related surgical environment.
  • BLS certification (or obtained upon hire).
