Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering 24/7 ER, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services. This role supports sterile processing and instrument care.

As Central Service Technician you will ensure proper operation of sterilizers, run tests, inspect equipment, and decontaminate instruments, contributing to patient safety and efficient OR readiness.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience as Central Service Technician.
  • Obtains national certification within 18 months of hire into the department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper operation of sterilizers (Steam, Ethylene Oxide and Sterrad units) prior to use on a daily basis.
  • Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of the day shift for both SPD and the OR. Records results in appropriate log.
  • Inspects all sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and reports to SPD Supervisor.
  • Cleans and decontaminates all equipment and instruments using the proper tools and cleaning agents.

Education
