Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a dedicated Central Service Technician to support sterilization and the handling of surgical instruments in a busy hospital setting.

You will operate sterilizers, run daily tests, inspect equipment for malfunctions, and maintain clean, compliant decontamination workflows. Qualifications include a high school diploma, 1 year of CST experience, and a plan to obtain national certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as Central Service Technician.
  • Obtains national certification within 18 months of hire into the department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper operation of sterilizers (Steam, Ethylene Oxide and Sterrad units prior to use on a daily basis).
  • Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of the day shift for both SPD and the OR. Records results in appropriate log.
  • Inspects all sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and reports to SPD Supervisor.
  • Cleans and decontaminates all equipment and instruments using the proper tools and cleaning agents.
