Job summary

AmSurg's Connecticut Eye Surgery Center South in Milford, CT seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, assembling, packaging, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation.

Requirements include certification (IAHCSMM and/or CBSPD), 2–3 years of certified sterile processing experience, ability to read, write and speak English, and ability to lift up to 25 lbs; High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, sterilize, assemble, package and store instruments.
• Distribute sterile instrumentation and equipment.
• Handle materials and perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist with updating operating room instrument trays.
• Assist with inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.

Sterile Processing Technician (Full-Time, Monday through Friday)

Performs decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, assembling, packaging, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Materials handling, other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements:

• Certification required. (IAHCSMM and/or CBSPD)
• 2-3 years previous experience working as Certified Sterile Processing Technician.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Knows operating room instrumentation and equipment.
• Familiarity with sterile areas, including use of PPE.
• Organized in setting up operating room instrument trays.
• Understands operation of gravity sterilizers.
• Assists with inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.
• Able to lift trays up to 25 lbs.
• Assisting with managing inventory.

Education

• High School Diploma required.
