Job description

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is recruiting multiple Sterile Processing Technicians to support the VA Long Beach Healthcare System at 5901 E 7th St, Long Beach, CA 90822. Coverage includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Conditions of employment include the possibility of schedule changes at the direction of Ansible or its customers.

Note: Multiple positions are available. The majority of positions are longer term (1 year+) with full‑time or near‑full‑time hours. Competitive packages with full benefits are available.

Responsibilities

• Practical knowledge of theory, principles, practice, and techniques of asepsis to prevent infection spread.
• Practical knowledge of microbiology and how it applies to surgical supply operations, resistance of microorganisms to heat and sterilization chemicals.
• Working knowledge of standard procedures for steam autoclaving.
• Working knowledge of standard procedures for chemical sterilization (e.g., Sterrad).
• Interpretation and proper recording of all sterilization test results.
• Working knowledge of standard procedures for high level disinfection (HLD) systems such as Medivator Advantage, Trophon, and manual HLD using Cidex OPA.
• Good knowledge of the availability, economics, use, operation, maintenance, assembly, and disassembly of the full range of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Broad knowledge of all types of surgical and clinical instrumentation, including ability to identify damaged or broken instruments and source suitable replacements.
• Familiarity with surgical procedures performed in a hospital operating room.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
• Knowledge of aseptic principles and cleaning techniques, including detergent characteristics.
• Proper handling, cleaning, and reprocessing of flexible endoscopes such as colonoscopes and gastroscopes.
• Ability to follow detailed, step‑by‑step manufacturer instructions for handling, cleaning, sterilization or HLD processing of a wide variety of reusable medical equipment (RME).
• Capability to perform all physical demands of the sterile processing department.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Capacity to work in a loud environment with occasional very loud noises.
• Capacity to wear required PPE for 8 hours of a duty day with normal rest and meal breaks.
• Capacity to work in a hot and humid environment while wearing PPE.
• Capacity to perform repetitive work for long periods of time.
• Flexibility to change tasks at a moment’s notice.

Qualifications

• Meets one or more of the following requirements:
• Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or higher by IAHCSMM/HSPA.
• Graduation from a nationally recognized CRCST training program with a minimum of 2 current years of documented work in the field.
• Graduation from a nationally recognized Operating Room Technician training program with a minimum of 2 current years of documented work in a sterile processing environment.
• Graduation from a US military training program for Surgical Technicians with a minimum of 2 current years of documented work experience in a sterile processing environment.
• VA Level 2 certification with a minimum of 2 years of current work experience in the SPS environment.
• Non‑certified technicians with documented and verifiable SPS hands‑on work experience for a minimum of 5 years.
• Recent experience working in a hospital setting within the last year.
• No sponsorship available.

Additional Requirements

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Pay Range

$23.85 – $31.19 hourly.

Physical Demands

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• Lift up to 20 lbs.
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
