PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a temporary, 1.00 FTE, Day position in Alaska. You will operate autoclaves, clean and sterilize instruments, and assemble surgical packs, ensuring readiness for procedures.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma (preferred), CRCST/CSPDT or equivalent certification within 1 year, and basic MS Office skills with solid English communication. Competitive benefits apply.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a Temporary, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $25.17 – $37.75. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for operating autoclaves and other equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment, including power equipment as applicable. Also responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays and packs.

Details of the Position

• Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
• Re-stocking inventory.
• Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
• Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
• Clean and maintain department equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent

Experience

• Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician

Credentials

• Required: within 1 Year Natl Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification Certification from IAHCSMM, as a Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST), or certification from CBSPD as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) or other nationally recognized certifying body

Skills

• Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
• Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications in English required. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
• Reaching frequently.
• Squat/ kneel occasionally.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
