Job summary

Orlando Health ORMC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join the SPD team. You will clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments and equipment for surgical cases, under supervision of the SPD Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the SPD Readiness Course within one year. You will work in a fast-paced hospital environment focusing on patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of the SPD Readiness Course within 1 year is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instrument trays for surgical case carts.
• Work under the direct supervision of the SPD Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor.
• Demonstrate professionalism and ethical standards in the Sterile Processing Department.
• Apply knowledge of sterilization processes from cleaning and decontamination through packaging and distribution.
• Learn to work independently in a dynamic technical environment as experience grows.

Responsibilities

• The Sterile Processing Technician works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist, or SPD Supervisor, must be able to work cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team.
• Demonstrates a sense of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Able to complete tasks as assigned and use the appropriate resources and references available for processing instrumentation and equipment.
• Using attained knowledge of sterilization processes, the Sterile Processing Technician will begin to learn to work independently in an ever-changing technical environment.
• Demonstrates, through clinical practice, knowledge, and an understanding of sterilization process, from cleaning and decontamination through packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument tray for surgical case carts according to pick lists or surgeon7s preference cards.
