Job summary

AdventHealth in Ocala, FL seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to receive, disinfect, inspect, and prepare instruments for sterilization, ensuring accuracy and safety in procedures. On-site role with opportunities for on-call duties and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred; High School Grad or equivalent required; Technical/Vocational School preferred.
  • Experience in sterile processing or healthcare environment preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification and CSPDT/CRCST certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
  • Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment.
  • Inspects instruments for damage or malfunction.
  • Prepares items for sterilization and verifies correct items and quantities.
  • Ensures sterilization procedures are properly followed and documented.
  • Maintains records on sterilization and tracks issued equipment.
  • Assists with stocking and preparation for surgical cases.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in the work area.
  • Demonstrates proper use of equipment and inventory control.
  • Accepts on-call assignments and supports department scheduling.

Education

Associate degree (Preferred)
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
Technical/Vocational School (Preferred)

Job Description:
  • Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
  • Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately.
  • Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition.
  • Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
  • Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
  • Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
  • Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases.
  • Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area.
  • Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units.
  • Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department.
  • Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Associate [Preferred] High School Grad or Equiv [Required] Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience: Previous sterile processing technician experience [Preferred] Healthcare/Hospital experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred] Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Preferred] OR Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Preferred]

Pay Range: $16.30 - $26.08
