Job summary

sih in Carbondale, IL seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, prep and sterilize instruments, hospital trays and items used in medical facilities.

You will monitor wash solutions for quality, sort mismatched instrument sets, restock inventory, maintain cleanliness, support safety and infection control, and train new staff. This role collaborates with the Sterile Processing team to ensure timely, safe availability of sterile supplies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in sterile processing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments and medical supplies; assembles wraps and sterilizes trays.
• Monitors wash solutions to ensure quality and safety in decontamination processes.
• Sorts mismatched instrument sets and makes them available to customers promptly.
• Restocks labels and maintains inventory; submits requisitions and distributes instruments.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Supports quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Assists with maintaining departmental policies and procedures and objectives.
• Trains new staff; exempt from preceptor pay.
