Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II for a Casual, 9am-2pm schedule at the Lake Forest location, with rotation to Grayslake as needed. The role requires knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization, and instrument handling to support patient procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or GED with related experience or a CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification, and demonstrates infection control expertise and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 3 years related equivalent experience.
• National (CBSPD) or International (IAHCSMM) Certification.
• Experience with surgical instrumentation and basic medical terminology.
• Experience with sterilization processes and aseptic technique applications.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and store instruments per procedure and aseptic technique.
• Follow preference sheets to dispense instruments and supplies to Surgery.
• Use Tray Tracking system and maintain infection control standards.
• Prepare instrument trays for sterilization and document test results.
• Inspect, sort and reprocess items; communicate issues to management.
• Participate in rotating through department areas to meet service needs.
• Provide training support and hand off communication to oncoming staff.
