Sterile Processing Tech II

Maintain a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for instrument room activities, ensuring proper processing of trays for all types of surgery, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Complete all additional responsibilities to include Clinical Ladder Criteria.
• Apply knowledge of emergency equipment location, care, and operation.
• Follow proper policies and procedures for Infection Control.
• Consistently inspect instrumentation and equipment for proper functioning and performance.
• Select the proper decontamination method for all equipment.
• Assemble trays according to pick lists, utilize the correct wrap method, and ensure appropriate sterilization.
• Monitor the sterilization process, ensuring all parameters are met prior to storage.
• Store all sterilized equipment in its proper location.
• Monitor the integrity of wrapped instrumentation while in the storage area.
• Meet and maintain all requirements.
• Conduct two in‑services or produce two articles related to sterile processing of instrumentation per quarter.
• Participate in learning programs offered by the department and departmental QI activities.
• Complete all assigned duties within appropriate time frames and assist others as needed.
• Foster good relationships between departments by communicating professionally.

Experience & Qualifications
