Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, TX is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I for full-time night shifts (7p–7a), Friday through Sunday. The role cleans, sterilizes, and distributes patient equipment and supplies to support patient care.

Responsibilities include organizing instruments, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety and infection control standards are met to support a high-quality healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in sterilization environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with hospital safety and infection control practices may be required.
• Ability to follow regulatory policies and procedures.

• Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer and infection control practices.

Schedule: FT, Nights; 7p - 7am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician 1 cleans, sterilizes, processes, organizes, and distributes patient equipment, instruments, supplies, and products.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Prepares rooms and organizes instruments, equipment, treatment trays and supplies for specified departments.
• Cleans and decontaminates instruments, containers, and patient equipment using detergents and disinfectants. Follows regulatory and hospital policies and procedures. Operates semi-automatic and automatic sterilization equipment and washers.
• Receives, stocks, rotates, and checks goods. Pulls expired goods. Fills and distributes internal orders. Picks up reusable trays, equipment, and instruments.
• Maintains and controls inventory. Maintains applicable records and files.
• Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer and infection control practices.

Key Success Factors

• Knowledge of equipment and instrument sterilization methods and procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Relational skills to interact with patients and staff.
• Ability to comply with safety, environmental, manufacturer and infection control practices.
• Relational and communication skills.
