Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Summit, NJ is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, disinfect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize medical and surgical instruments. Responsibilities include case cart assembly and distribution, care and distribution of patient care equipment, and maintaining sterile processing areas.

Must demonstrate proficiency in SPD and follow quality metrics. Computer literacy is required, and lifting of heavy items is expected.

• Able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time, as well as push, pull and lift heavy items.

• Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include: the use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsible for the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Responsible for cleaning/disinfecting contaminated supplies, delivering sterile supplies, maintaining inventory, and the processing of reusable medical devices for surgeries, examinations, and procedures. Tests and reports any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
