Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician to assemble, clean, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and kits. You will maintain documentation and coordinate with Biomedical for equipment checks in a 12pm-8:30pm weekday shift with on-call duties.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, enrollment or completion of a Central Sterile Processing Technician program, and certification within one year. A signing bonus may be available.

• Maintain accurate documentation of sterilized equipment and biological testing.
• Check and restock par level and code carts; monitor for outdated supplies.
• Receive, store, and distribute supplies; coordinate equipment checks with Biomedical.

Schedule Details: Holidays - No More Than Every Third Holiday, Monday through Friday, On Call - Required, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Scheduled Hours: 12pm-8:30pm weekdays, 8am-4:30pm weekends and holidays Shift: 2 - Evening Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 40 Cost Center: 26000 - 2550 Central Sterile Supplies. Assembles properly inspected, processed surgical instruments, carts, and equipment according to kit lists to meet the demands of quality patient care. Ensures all items are cleaned, sterilized, and stored in accordance with established policies and manufacturer guidelines.

Major Responsibilities

• 1. Clean, package, sterilize, and store instruments and kits per policy.
• 2. Maintain accurate documentation of sterilized equipment and biological testing.
• 3. Check and restock par level and code carts; monitor for outdated supplies.
• 4. Receive, store, and distribute supplies; coordinate equipment checks with Biomedical.
• 5. Document equipment loss, repairs, and requisitions; order specialty beds as needed.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

• Required:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of, or enrollment in an accredited Central Sterile Processing Technician program.
  3. Certification is required within one year of employment. Failure to obtain certification within one year will result in termination from this position.
• Preferred:
  1. Central Sterile Processing Technician Certification.

Experience/Skills

• Required:
  1. - Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
