Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for the SLH – CPH Main location in Potsdam, NY. This per diem, day-shift role focuses on preparing and maintaining sterile equipment to ensure patient safety and quality care, under the guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor.

SUMMARY

Prepare and maintain the many life preserving articles and pieces of equipment that are necessary to provide the utmost in both patient and employee safety and generate the utmost in both patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Operates steam and ETO gas sterilizers
• Maintain extra supplies
• Updates file cards and maintains daily records
• Participates in continuing education programs in the hospital and in outside seminars and workshops.

• Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent

Required Licensure/Certification

• Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire or must obtain within two years of hire.

• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.
