Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital – Mountain Point in Lehi, UT is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to promote patient safety by ensuring efficient flow in the Sterile Processing department, including decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments.

You will operate sterilization equipment, maintain records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards, and support survey readiness in a collaborative hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.
• Six (6) months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed method (e.g. steam, gas plasma Sterrad).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.
• Understands the basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of how items to be sterilized should be packaged to promote successful sterilization.
• Follows manufacturer's recommendations (IFU's) and ensures cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.
• Validates the proper functioning of all equipment using established mechanical and biological monitors.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sterile Processing Tech, you will promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department, performing routine tasks relating to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.

Every day you will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, maintain meticulous records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards, and actively assist the department's preparation for survey/regulatory assessments.

To be successful in this role, you will possess meticulous attention to detail in sterile processing, a strong understanding of safety and compliance standards, and a commitment to ensuring quality and patient safety in the operating room.
