Job summary

MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, MA is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments, ensuring each item is correctly processed and ready for procedures. Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, complete a sterile processing program, and obtain BLS with an 8‑month certification plan.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience.
  • BLS certification required; CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification within 8 months.
  • Experience with instrument processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver case carts; assist with replenishment of materials.

Job Summary

Up to $10,000 Sign‑on Bonus Based on Eligibility

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for task‑based sterile processing activities.

Responsibilities
  • Decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation.
  • Software applications, assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials.
  • Collaboration with surgical partners to provide accurate and complete surgical instrumentation and needed supplies.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician.
  • Certification:
    • BLS.
    • To be certified with IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 8 months.
Preferred
  • Experience: 1 year as sterile processing technician with completion of formal sterile processing technician course.
  • Certification: Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing.

Salary: $17.00 - $30.00 per hour (individual wages are determined based upon qualifications and experience).
