Job summary

DMC Receiving Hospital in Detroit, MI seeks a Sterile Processing Tech to perform decontamination, inspection, sterilization and assembly of instruments and equipment for patient care. Duties include cart assembly, restocking and communication with nursing and supply staff.

The role supports a Level I trauma center with a focus on accuracy, safety and timely processing of supplies for patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
• Completion of an accredited Central Services Processing program or 6 months of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, sort, inspect, test, assemble and sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Assemble case carts, crash carts and other emergency carts per pick lists.
• Restock unused, returned supplies and notify staff when stock is low or out.

Job Summary

Under general supervision but according to established procedures, duties include, but are not limited to, decontaminating, sorting, inspection, testing, assembling, and sterilizing various standard and specialty instruments, equipment, trays and other items used within the healthcare facilities. Assembles case carts, crash carts and various other emergency carts per established pick lists. Restocks unused, returned supplies, notifies appropriate personnel of low or stocked out supplies. Restocks various nursing areas via requisition or pick list.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

1. Completion of an accredited program in Central Services Processing, or six months of equivalent experience performing same duties in a Central Sterile Processing department.
2. Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSMM required within 12 months of hire/job date (Certification requirement waived for current employees with hire date prior to 2001).
