Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a Central Supply Supervisor at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. The role oversees sterile and non-sterile supply activities, staff supervision, inventory management, and budget adherence within the central supply department.

Responsibilities include sterilization oversight, equipment handling, requisitioning, staff development, and policy implementation to support hospital operations and patient care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required and 3 years supervisory experience required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician upon hire preferred.

  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling and issuing of professional equipment.
  • Develops and manages department budget and ensures operations stay within budget.
  • Creates policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinates and integrates services with other departments and system-wide functions.
  • Establishes and maintains safety, infection control standards and staff training.

General Summary

Oversees the activities of the hospital's central supply personnel regarding stocking and furnishing of sterile and nonsterile supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Establishes and oversees methods for preparing, handling and storing sterile equipment and materials.
  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling and issuing of professional equipment.
  • Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Develops and recommends department/entity operating budget and ensures that department/entity operates within budget.
  • Creates policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipments.
  • Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).
  • Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.
  • Establishes and maintains department/entity safety, environmental and/or infection control standards.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
  • Recommends sufficient space and other resources required by the department/service line/entity.
