Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Sterile Processing Department to ensure high-quality sterilization procedures and manage departmental workflows. You will be pivotal in training staff and enforcing protocols to maintain safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in sterile processing and comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation, strong communication skills, and a certification from an accredited service agency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years experience in SPD or two years with certification as an instrument specialist.
• Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation for various surgical services.
• Thorough knowledge of microbiology as it relates to SPD and OR.

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality assurance standards for sterilization procedures.
• Ensures proper protocol during sterile processing preparation and assembly.
• Conducts audits and monitors inventory of instruments and supplies.

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to interpret procedural policies

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to perform detailed work

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification for Central Service by HSPA
