Job summary

Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, is seeking a CSP Educator to coordinate Central Service education, planning, implementing, and evaluating training for staff. The role emphasizes adherence to regulatory standards and continuous professional development across the department.

Responsibilities include interpreting IFUs for instruments, operating sterilizing equipment, maintaining QA and infection-control standards, and coordinating orientation and audits.

Qualifications

• Must have CRCST certification at hire.
• Must obtain CIS within 180 days of hire.
• Must obtain CHL within 180 days of hire.
• Must obtain CER within 180 days if GI is managed by SPD.
• Minimum two years’ experience in Sterile Processing.
• Minimum two years’ experience in OR instrumentation and case cart programs.
• Minimum two years’ management experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret manufacturers’ IFU for surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Operate sterilizing equipment and related processes per IFU.
• Maintain departmental policies, QA, safety, and infection control standards.
• Report defective materials or equipment to supervisor.
• Coordinate new-hire orientation within the department.
• Plan and promote staff education and training for professional development.
• Ensure compliance with AORN, AAMI, Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA standards.
• Complete required training including computer-related requirements.
• Maintain employee certifications and documentation.
• Prepare agendas and document meeting minutes.
• Audit sterilizers, washers, and high-level disinfection equipment.

Job Summary

CSP Educator position is accountable for coordinating education in Central Service (CS) department to include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating education and training of the Central Service staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge in analyzing and interpreting manufacturer’s IFU for surgical instrumentation, endoscopes, and medical equipment.
• Ability to operate semi-automatic to automatic sterilizing equipment; mechanical decontamination equipment and other related equipment, e.g., ultra-sonic washers, rinsers/dryers according to manufacturer’s IFU.
• Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
• Reports defective or damaged materials, equipment and supplies to supervisor.
• Coordinates the departmental orientation of new hires.
• Plans, implements and promotes the education and training of staff members to ensure professional development.
• Ensures that the department meets all the regulations, standards and guidelines consistent with AORN, AAMI, The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA requirements as well as the hospital’s policies and procedures.
• Completes required continuous training and education, including computer-related requirements.
• Manages and maintains employee compliance folders to ensure certifications, proficiencies, and related documentation are up to date.
• Generates and prepares agenda for Meetings and documents the meeting’s minutes.
• Follows all health and safety regulations and requirements.
• Will audit quality and performance test documentation for all sterilizers, washers, and high-level disinfecting equipment.
• Will use Tracking Software such as Ascendco, SPM, Censitrac, Abacus, T-Dot, etc. to generate various reports and audit compliance records to ensure accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must have upon hiring : Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
• Must obtain within 180 days of hiring: Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
• Must obtain within 180 days of hiring : Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL)
• Must obtain within 180 days of hiring if GI is managed by SPD: Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
• Minimum Knowledge and Education:
• Highschool Diploma/GED required
• Associates Degree in Healthcare or Business related field required College level courses and related experience may substitute for Associate Degree.
• Minimum two years experience in Sterile Processing Department required.
• Three years experience working directly with OR instrumentation and case cart program preferred.
• Minimum two years experience in management preferred
