Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill is seeking an Education Coordinator for the Sterile Processing Department. The role focuses on coordinating orientation, staff development and continuing education to strengthen SPD performance.

The position requires an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, SPD certification, and at least three years of SPD experience with a year in a senior preceptor role. This is a full-time, onsite role with day shift.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; education may be substituted with related experience.
• Sterile Processing Certification required.
• Three years SPD experience including at least one year in a senior role as a preceptor.

Responsibilities

• Assists staff in design and implementation of SPD performance improvement projects.
• Provides education to staff on regulatory standards and ongoing practice issues.
• Maintains and updates orientation manuals and skills checklists.
• Contributes to sterile processing policy development.
• Creates individualized training plan for new employees and conducts weekly assessments.
• Assesses competency of preceptors to support orientation of new staff.
• Coordinates in-service schedule for new instruments and continuing education.
