Sterile Processing Coordinator - Full Time - Day Shift
Grow your career at Cedars-Sinai. This role supports the Sterile Processing Department by overseeing instrument management, inventory, and coordination between operating rooms and Sterile Processing to ensure timely processing and delivery of instrument trays and implants.
What you will be doing in this role
The Sterile Processing Coordinator oversees and follows department business and regulatory practices when receiving, inventorying, processing and returning vendor loaner, consigned and owned instrument and implant trays. Responsible for guiding and providing support in instrument navigation between the operating rooms and Sterile Processing Department and facilitates the movement, inspection, and delivery of trays between each floor and the Sterile Processing Department. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, distribution of supplies or equipment, customer service and departmental efficiencies.
- Oversees the Instrument Management System and works with clinical staff and department supervisors to ensure instrument needs are met, and assist in determining if products and/or instruments need to be sourced through vendor. Provide options and alternatives on products and/or instruments that meet case needs and coordinate any logistics with internal staff and/or vendor as needed.
- Communicates with all necessary vendors and internal staff to coordinate the timely delivery, processing and pickup of loaner trays/tubs used in surgery.
- Identifies “instrument sets” to be put into production and coordinates with educators and supervisors to provide applicable in-service to staff.
- Receives and validates all instruments and implants within vendor loaner trays and tubs, and ensures all items are approved for use.
- Coordinates the receipt-to-return process for all loaned trays, implant tubs and other products and/or instruments.
- Assists leadership with cost management efforts regarding requests for new products or usage of vendor products and/or instruments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- At least five (5) years in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
