Qualifications

• Must sign the sterile processing tech apprentice program agreement.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to breakdown, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation; strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, assembles and packages all instruments per protocol; prepares replacement parts as needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment adhering to Standard Precautions and PPE; follows IFU from manufacturers.
• Identifies instruments for all specialties and ensures proper function; assists with repairs or replacements as needed.
• Operates steam autoclaves and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers; maintains sterilization logs and records.
• Responds to service requests from the Operating Room; prioritizes instrument needs and supports hospital operations.
